Weird Sex News from around the World (and Beyond)
It’s a weird, wild, sexy world out there. We cover a lot of “off-the-beaten-path” sex topics on this blog, from swingers to fetishes, but some of the sex news I’ve seen around the Web lately makes this adventurous blogger feel downright vanilla.
Mistaken Identity
In Toronto, a man is being tried for rape after having sex with his twin brother’s lover. The case is in court right now. The woman claims she didn’t know it was not her lover, but his twin, when he climbed into bed with her after a party to take a nap. She instituted sex, beginning by caressing him. He claims he told her who it was. She says she used her lover’s name several times, and he did not correct her. She consented to sex by her actions, he says.
When he turned on the lights, she realized who he was and ran out of the room screaming. Apparently, the twins were not identical — but close enough for rock and roll, as the saying goes. The article does not say whether or not the woman and her lover’s twin used a condom.
The World’s Largest Condom
You caught me. That last line was just an easy segue into this next bit: a giant flying condom. If you see something strange flying the friendly skies of France, it might just be the 120-foot long CondomFly. By the end of this year, the condom-blimp will begin a 100-city tour to promote World AIDS Day. It carries four people, including a pilot and is, perhaps, the first safe sex alternate for another over-sized French contribution to the world: the Statue of Liberty.
Don’t Bring a Pussy Cat to a Dog Show
While a Helium-filled flying condom is a pretty good marketing tactic to promote safe sex, I think this streaker may need a quick lesson in “knowing your audience.” He interrupted a dog show in Birmingham, England, just for the thrill. I can understand the psychology behind streaking — obviously, streakers want attention. But wearing a cat loin cloth over your sausage at a dog show? That’s just inviting trouble.
Man Arrested for Masturbating in Public Library
For some people, it’s dogs, for others it’s…pro wrestling? A man in Burlington, Kentucky, was arrested in the Boone County Public Library for allegedly masturbating at a computer terminal. But it wasn’t porn on the screen, at all — he was watching pro wrestling videos.
Pornographic Postal Theft
At least the Boone County man had the good graces to get his masturbating material without stealing. A Peterborough, U.K.-based postal worker was caught stealing sex toys, pornographic DVDs and lingerie from people on his delivery route for the past 10 years, according to this article in the Telegraph. Police raided his former home to find a hefty stash, including the receipts. The postal worker would open a box containing a large order, steal one item, and then re-seal the box for delivery.
This seems a good time to remind everyone that all orders from Vibrator.com are discretely shipped in plain packaging, so family members, neighbors — and unscrupulous postal workers — won’t be able to identify the contents, let alone know if they’re worth stealing!

How to Choose the Best Lubricant
If you have any experience with lubricants, you know how much they can add to sex. Whether it’s your goal to “go all night,” or you simply want to help your favorite sex toy slide in (anywhere) easier, you’ll want some good quality lube.
By the same token, we want our precious sex toys to last a long time, too. (I’m talking years, not hours…) Using the right lubricant on sex toys of various materials will prolong their lifespan, make clean-up easier, and permit you even more enjoyment from your sex toys.
Here’s a quick and easy reference guide to lubricants and the toys and activities they are compatible with:
Water-based lubricants: Think of water-based lubes as the Swiss Army knife of lubricants. They work with any sex toys or condom material, under nearly any circumstance. They are long-lasting, easy-to-clean up, and won’t stain sheets or clothing. Water-based lubricants may have different consistencies. As a general rule, seek thicker (gel-like) water-based lubricants for more intense play, including anal sex or when you’re looking for a long-lasting lubricant.
There’s one time (ironically), when you don’t want to use a water-based lube: when you’re having sex in the water. It will wash right off. Instead, choose a silicone lubricant, which is not water-soluble and is safe to use with condoms.
You might buy: Astroglide, ID Glide Lube, or Wet Original Lubricant
Silicone lubricants: More expensive but also typically longer lasting than water-based lubricants, silicone lubricants are slippery smooth, luxurious, and great for all types of play — except one. Do not use a silicone-based lubricant with your silicone-containing sex toys, including toys made from Cyberskin and similar materials. It will wear down your silicone-based toys faster than a porn star can get it up.
You might buy: Pjur Eros, Toko Silicone Lubricant, or Gun Oil Silicone Lube
Oil-based lubricants: Oil-based lubricants are longer lasting than water-based lubes, making them a desirable choice for many people. Oil-based lubes are suitable for water-play, since they’re not water soluble. However, oil has some major drawbacks. It can:
- stain fabric
- break down latex condoms (they are safe with polyurethane condoms)
- damage certain sex toys
Oil-based lubricants can harbor bacteria, causing vaginal infections in women. It’s best not to use them during penetration (even with a toy) for women, although they are okay for penetration of men during anal sex.
You might buy: ID Cream lubricant or Jack Jelly.
Lubricants with glycerin and sugar: Lubricants with glycerin and sugar or high-fructose corn syrup (for instance, some flavored lubes) can also cause yeast infections in some women. These are best used for external play only.
Save the Olive Oil for the Salad
While we’re on the topic of “flavorful lubricants” — a note about Olive Oil as a lubricant: Olive oil is sometimes recommended as an “all-natural” lubricant. Olive oil doesn’t make the best lubricant at all, because it can breed bacteria, is not very thick or long-lasting, and is fairly expensive. Keep the olive oil in the kitchen; if you’re looking for an inexpensive, natural lubricant, go with a water-based lube.
- Oil-based lubes are suitable for men for masturbation or anal sex with another man, but are NOT suitable for use with latex condoms.
- Silicone-based lubes are extremely versatile, good for every purpose except for use with a silicone sex toy.
- Water-based lubes are good for all purposes except during sex play in the water.

Four Things You Need to Have a Threesome

With the Britney Spears song “1, 2, 3” running through my brain, I started wondering if threesomes have grown in popularity since the song hit the top 20. Most guys have the dream, whether they admit it or not. If he has testosterone coursing through his veins, chances are he wants to see you with another girl.
If you’re amenable to the suggestion, it’s not an impossible dream at all. And I don’t doubt Britney’s song sparked a few discussions on the topic. But there are four things you absolutely must have for a successful threesome.
1. A third person.
Where can you find another girl (or perhaps even another guy) to engage in a threesome? You have a few choices… Many websites are devoted to swingers, where you can find other people in your area to hook up with. You can hunt down swinger parties in your region, where you’ll meet interesting people, make friends, and hopefully find a third. If “blind dating” of this sort is not your style, you can approach friends, which carries a unique set of challenges.
If you have a friend, you’re going to face the person afterward — whether the night was a success or not. As in any kind of sexual encounter, lots of things can go wrong, including one person feeling neglected. You may also feel as if your relationship is threatened — especially if your partner and your friend had a close friendship previously. After all, the mix of close friendship, intimacy and sex has the makings of a potential relationship. Are you confident enough to recognize that the sex and the friendship can remain as separate elements? (And if not, you may want to reconsider the idea of a threesome at all). Is each party mature enough to recognize the difference between love and lust?
Many threesomes between friends work out very well, and can actually be a beautiful way to strengthen your friendship. But first, consider whether or not you’ll feel “weird” facing the person the next morning.
On the other hand, sex with a stranger or someone you meet through the swinger lifestyle can be illicit, exciting and lots of fun. The big problem is you really don’t know what you’re getting into and sex with a stranger may make you uncomfortable.
2. Lots of confidence.
Before you enter a threesome with your partner, you’ll need to be secure in several ways. You’ll want to believe in the strength of your relationship and understand that sex is fun, but it doesn’t mean he’s going to run off and marry the “third.”
You also need to have a healthy dose of self-confidence in your body. You don’t want to worry that he’s constantly comparing you (unfavorably!) to the other woman.
Finally, you need to understand the give-and-take of a sexual relationship. Sometimes, the emphasis will be on her, sometimes on you, and sometimes on both of you. Sometimes it will shift so you’re both focusing on him. One of the fantastically fun things about a threesome is the different possibilities it presents for sexual acts and positions.
3. Ground rules.
Perhaps you’re perfectly comfortable with him watching while you get it on with your best friend, but there are certain parts of him you don’t want to share. That’s fine, but discuss it beforehand and be honest. Also let the third person know your ground rules — they may have a few of their own.
If someone crosses a line (maybe the possibility wasn’t discussed because you didn’t think of it, or maybe someone got swept up in the heat of the moment), gently and playfully guide them in another direction. As long as you’re nice about it — and create an equally steamy diversion — no one should mind.
4. Condoms.
It’s a good idea for all parties to get tested for sexually-transmitted diseases beforehand and present a clean bill of health. But even if you do, any sex with a non-monogamous, regular partner should involve condoms. If the guy in a threesome switches between girls, he should change the condom each time to prevent the exchange of fluids. You may want to consider dental dams for oral sex, as well.
