How to Use A Cockring
January 9, 2007
Cockrings are one of the oldest sex devices known to man. They’ve been used for millennia to help keep a penis hard, but even men who don’t have erectile dysfunction are re-discovering that a cockring can enhance their sexual pleasure and that of their partners, too. In centuries past, cockrings were made of precious materials like jade and silver as well as leather. Today, cockrings are made of new synthetics as well as the old stand-bys like metal and wood.
It’s fun to explore the many different kinds of cockrings available. Some are intricate series of rubber or leather straps which fit around the penis and ball sac, with another strap to separate the testicles, and yet another to encircle the base of the shaft. Others are simple as a kind of rubber band, just a stretchy ring of material which fits snugly around the balls and base of the shaft. Still others are hard metal “doughnuts” — some weighing up to a pound — that fit the same way. A lot of women are finding they like their men to wear a little “adornment’ to spice up the view.
Not all cockring are designed just to keep an erection or to look sexy, however. There are varieties with special nubs or projections, designed to enhance a woman’s pleasure during intercourse by rubbing against her labia and clitoris. So don’t be surprised if your lover suggests you try or wear one for her pleasure, too. In fact, Trojan recently introduced a “use it and lose it” disposable cockring that comes with a built-in bullet vibrator for you and for her.
If you’re new to them, putting on a cockring can seem a little daunting, but they are quite simple really. Any do-it-yourselfer can accomplish it with ease. The penis should be flaccid and — in the case of the rigid metal kind — is drawn through the opening, then first one ball, then the other is gently pulled through until the cockring rests solidly against your crotch. The stretch kind of cockring is obviously even easier to put on. You just pull it open, slide it down over your shaft and around your ball sac, and you‘re good to go.
Leather cockrings are extremely popular, both for their aesthetic look and because most come with adjustable snap closures for easy fit and removal. And speaking of removal, don’t forget about safety. . .
Yes, there are safety considerations with cockring use. Many experts suggest that you do not wear one for longer than twenty or thirty minutes, although there are cases where men have been known to wear them for much longer without apparent damage. The damage can happen because the cockring restricts the outflow of blood from the penis which is what makes it flaccid again. Like any sex toy, you should use a cockring wisely, as an enhancer, not an all the time thing. Otherwise, enjoy them, wear them as “special jewelry” to adorn your genitals, and to increase your and your lover’s pleasure.
