And being in the line of work we’re in, we pay close attention to the sex-related material we find and tuck it away for either publication or blackmail. Luckily for them, we’ve decided to publicize their sex-toy-related news for your entertainment.

Some of us are old enough to remember the early 90’s, when Madonna released her controversial (at the time) book “Sex” and exposed America to (then) taboo sexual practices and fetishes. Celebrities of the time, like Naomi Campbell, Isabella Rossellini, Big Daddy Kane, and Vanilla Ice risked their careers lending their likeness to the book, and in turn were part of easing modern America into alternative lifestyles and taboo sex.

Since then, we’ve read about multiple “leaked” sex tapes, including such forays into the bedrooms of Paris Hilton and Pamela Anderson. Are they truly that careless/carefree, or might they be vying for the ultimate desensitization of what is taboo? (Yeah, right!) Whatever their plan or reason, “our” celebrities sex-lives make for more than just good entertainment. Call it the “sexualization of America”!

One young and bright entrepreneurial celeb has figured out how to capitalize on sex without hurting his career or giving dad a coronary. Rapper 50 Cent has announced the development of a waterproof “motorized version of me”, as he so eloquently puts it. All we know is that it will be molded from his very own manhood and “it will probably be blue” – his favorite color. Also in the works is a “50 Cent Condom”. Whether this condom will actually cost 50 cents remains a mystery.

So who is 50 Cent marketing his line to? Star Magazine claims that Britney Spears was spotted at Hollywood’s “Hustler” sex toy shop recently stocking up on some gear. She is also reported to have a secret double-locked “fantasy room” in her Beverly-Hills home. “It’s filled with sex toys, from ticklers, whips and chains to fur-trimmed handcuffs,’ says an insider. ‘She keeps sex toys in a glass jar.”

While we suspect that Star Magazine’s sources may not be the most reliable, we do have far more legitimate reports about Brangelina’s erotic shopping escapades while in London. Friends Victoria Beckham and Eva Longoria were also shopping for sex toys and lingerie in Hollywood last weekend, sources close to the stars say. Longoria got a stunning response from her fans in 2005 after confessing in an interview her love for vibrators. “People sent them to me by the truckload. Boxes and boxes and boxes. I gave them to all my girlfriends.”

So what’s the big celebrity scoop? Well, there really isn’t one. America seems to be happily comfortable with its sexuality. Today, we’re far more concerned with who’s coked-up driving down Santa Monica Boulevard than with some silly sexual taboo.
